Assessment & treatment

Sports Injury Assessment in Hythe, Southampton

If something hurts, has stopped you training or just hasn’t settled, a sports injury assessment at my clinic in Hythe is the place to start. In 45 minutes we’ll work out what’s going on, begin treatment and put together a clear plan for you to take home.

Is it right for you?

Who it’s for

Anyone with pain or an injury that’s getting in the way, whether it started during sport or seemingly out of nowhere. You don’t need a GP referral and you don’t need to be an athlete. People often come to me with:

  • Knee, ankle, hip or shoulder pain
  • Back and neck pain, including aches that build up from desk work
  • Running injuries, such as shin, calf or Achilles problems
  • Gym injuries, from a tweaked back to a sore shoulder
  • Niggles that come and go but have never fully settled

Most of my clients are from Hythe and the Waterside, and plenty travel in from Southampton, Totton and the New Forest.

There’s more on getting here from Dibden, Blackfield, Beaulieu, Southampton and the New Forest. All local areas

Your appointment

What to expect in a session

  1. We talk it through

We start with a proper conversation about your injury history, your symptoms, your work and the things you want to get back to. It tells me as much as any physical test.

  2. Movement and hands-on assessment

I’ll watch how you move, then assess the area with tests for strength, range of movement and the structures that could be involved.

  3. Treatment

Where it’s appropriate, we start treatment in the same session. That might be hands-on soft tissue work, taping or your first few exercises.

  4. A clear explanation and a plan

You’ll leave knowing what I think is going on and why, with a written plan to take home. If anything needs a GP or further investigation, I’ll tell you and help you with the next step.

Follow-up appointments then build on that plan, adjusting treatment and exercises as you improve.

Bring any scan reports or letters from your GP or consultant, a list of any medication you take, and the trainers you usually run or train in if your injury is in your legs or feet. Wear clothes you can move in.

If anything in your assessment suggests you need imaging or a medical opinion, I’ll explain why and point you to the right next step, usually your GP. I can give you a summary of what I found to take with you.

Yes, you’re welcome to bring a friend or family member. Anyone under 18 should come with a parent or guardian.
